Anne Dawson

 

Anne Dawson is an experienced communicator having worked as a senior communications executive in the federal public service and as an award-winning political journalist at national media organizations for more than two decades. 

Anne served as Executive Director of Communications for Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, a federal government Crown corporation and Canada's national housing agency, providing strategic leadership in the development and management of all communications functions.

Anne held increasingly senior reporting and management positions in the Canadian media.  She was Chief Political Correspondent for the National Post and CanWest News Service, as well as co-host of Global TV’s “Ottawa Inside Out.” Anne was the first female Bureau Chief for Sun Media Corporation at both Queen's Park in Toronto and Parliament Hill in Ottawa.  As well, Anne served two terms as President of the Canadian Parliamentary Press Gallery.

Anne is a director of the board for Mprime, the only Canadian Network of Centres of Excellence for the mathematical sciences.  She served on the board of Mitacs, a national, not-for-profit research organization that excels in research and training programs linking science with business.

Anne attended the University of Toronto as a recipient of the prestigious Southam Journalism Fellowship.  She holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Journalism from Ryerson Polytechnical Institute and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia.
